Oral Hygiene Basics

Posted .

Keeping up on oral hygiene is one of the best things you can do for your teeth and gums. This is because healthy teeth help you look and feel good as well as help you eat and speak properly and have a better overall health. This is why your dentist, Dr. Paul Szmanda, Tom Nichols, Aaron Pavelski, Kate Collelo and Dustin Dengel, strongly encourages you to clean your smile regularly.

Having good oral hygiene provides great results that can benefit you. It can help you have a clean smile (which can help you prevent dental issues), keep your gums healthy and strong (this prevents bleeding), and even prevent or eliminate bad breath. Little did you know, it can also help you reduce your chances of suffering major health issues, like heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

Good oral hygiene consists of brushing your teeth twice a day (for two minutes each time), flossing your teeth once a day (make sure to be gentle around the gums), rinsing your mouth with mouthwash daily (it’s best to use fluoride or antibacterial mouthwash), and visiting your dentist every six months. If you need help keeping up on oral hygiene, your dental team will be more than happy to give you the tips you need.
